LMS: Batgirl Vs Batgirl

Oh cmon. How fair would this fight be, since the original Batgirl, Barbara Gordon, is now crippled and in a wheelchair, thanks to the nefarious Joker? Wouldn't this be the most one-sided fight in the history of Last Man Standing? All Batgirl (Cassandra Cain, the NEW one) needs to do is to release the wheel-lock from Babs' wheelchair and shove her down a really steep hill and the battle is won. All in two seconds.

Oh wait. We're supposed to suspend our disbelief and PRETEND that the Babs Gordon version of Batgirl hasn't lost the use of her legs yet. Still...it'd be a pretty one-sided fight. A expert martial artist trained by the deadliest assassin in the world versus a computer whiz with fairly good fighting skills, relying on her gadgets, smoke bombs and batarangs? No contest.

THE PLAYERS...A gifted natural athlete with a photographic memory, Barbara Gordon became Batgirl to join Batman in his war on crime. Crippled by the Joker, she gave up her Batgirl persona and became Oracle, information broker for the heroes of the DC Universe.

Trained from a young age to become a deadly assassin by the hired killer Cain, the new Batgirl joined Batman during the “No Man’s Land” affair, adopting the mantle of Batgirl to help rebuild Gotham City.

THE BATTLE...While possessing Mr. Mxyzptlk’s omnipotence during the “Emperor Joker” adventure, the Joker returns to Barbara Gordon the use of her legs as part of his grand joke. Wanting to prove she still had the prowess to be a crimefighter, Barbara battles the new Batgirl to test her skills. Barbara unleashes a batarang that Batgirl easily dodges, but it sticks in the wall behind her and explodes, distracting Batgirl momentarily. Barbara moves in and rapid-fires weaponry from her utility belt: smoke bombs, stun discs, anything to keep Batgirl off balance. Unfortunately, Barbara’s supply is finite, and it comes down to hand to hand combat. In that contest, it’s no contest at all. The new Batgirl’s one of the deadliest fighters on the planet; Barbara owned a brown belt in karate and judo. Batgirl connects with a series of vicious kicks and punches that leave Barbara reeling and near unconscious. And the last thought that goes through her head before waking up as Oracle again is that she’s better off working behind the scenes.
