[PREVIEW] Thunderbolts: Breaking Point #1

Yay, Thunderbolts! I've loved this series since its inception way back....man, has it been ten years already!? Anyway, I bought the first issue mainly because it WAS a first issue...and the fact that Marvel had previewed them as the group of heroes that was going to step into the lofty shoes of New York's finest superteams after they had all disappeared following the Onslaught fiasco.

So the first issue just read like any other ordinary superteam debut comic. Until the last two pages that is, when it was revealed that these weren't heroes...they were actually the Masters of Evil in disguise! The team was originally formed so that they could get into the public consciousness, slip under the radar and then commit the most heinous of crimes once the public had trusted them completely.

But even the best laid plans don't always work out. The villains found that they LIKED the public spotlight and adoration and what was once nothing but a hunger for revenge and destruction soon turned into a moral compass and conscience.

I've still been purchasing the single issues...or at least, putting them on my order list back in Singapore (which means I've got a stack of Thunderbolts comics to pick up when I'm back!) and I try to get all the related mini-series too. This is just too good a series.

And here's a preview of the latest related Thunderbolts mini-series from Wizard Universe:

Songbird. Moonstone. The two longest-serving members of the Thunderbolts...but that’s practically all they have in common. Songbird has vowed not to let Moonstone corrupt her team, while Moonstone schemes to kill Songbird in the field. This special issue follows the pair of heroes as they head inexorably toward confrontation...on a collision course that may tear the Thunderbolts apart!
