Enough is enough and it's time for a change!

Okay...a long overdue post on this site which hasn't been updated in over six months. Since it's coming to the end of June and we're entering the second half of the year, let's see if we can invigorate this site again!

I used to keep this site to my comics musings and ramblings. Initially anyway, then it turned into a site where I posted the latest comics information that interested me...by pretty much copying and pasting stuff verbatim from the Wizard Universe website. Who really wants to read stuff that they get regularly from a more established website anywho!?

So, it's time for a revamp, in terms of the content at least. I'm still pretty happy with the layout of this site. What sort of content, you ask? Well...I'm still trying to figure that one out myself.

I still don't have time to write out fully fleshed comic scripts. I also don't think I have the creativity to continue churning out those little comic strip scripts that I used to on 28 Geeks Later.

I was inspired for a while to post my own critiques about the latest comics...but I'm much too lazy to do that and I don't quite keep up to date with what's happening weekly in the comics biz...perhaps monthly or every two months, since I read TPBs mostly and usually read Wizard perhaps a month or two AFTER the original issue has been released!

I might just post my own opinions on the latest books I've read, or games I've played, or comics-related movies I've watched, or manga I've read. In more detail.

Still trying to figure that one out. The one thing I do know though? There's no quashing my passion and love for the comic book medium. It is, after all, my number one hobby and that isn't going to be replaced anytime soon, even though I HAVE been spending quite a bit of time and money on my Nintendo DS and Wii of late.

But Mario and Yoshi can never EVER compare to Captain America and Spider-man. I'd rather get lost in a tale of the final man on earth, rather than get lost in some dungeon searching for the Phantom Hourglass. And I'd rather be thrilled by revelations such as Black Bolt being a Skrull than tricking out on some go-kart around a track.

Comics. My love for ye knows no bounds. Entertain me! Preferably now.

Chris Latta-mania!

As you'll find out over the next couple of days while I'm moving comic strip scripts from 28 Geeks Later over to this blog, a lot of the initial scripts were Transformers centric. Why's that, you may wonder? Well, the live-action Transformers movie had been in cinemas for about a week and Theo and I had nothing but the robots in disguise on our minds.

I was wondering why Chris Latta, the cartoon voice of Starscream (who was also the voice of Cobra Commander from G.I. Joe), didn't come back to do Starscream's voice in the movie. Found out that he couldn't possibly do the voice...simply because he'd been dead for quite some time! Which inspired this script which I really thought was funny at the time...especially the ending!

"Hi, my name is Chris Latta. You may remember me as the voice of Cobra Commander from G.I. Joe and Starscream from Transformers. I was also the voice of Montgomery Burns in the first two seasons of the Simpsons."

"A lot of people might be wondering: Why wasn't I hired to do the voice of Starscream in the 2007 live action Transformers movie? I know a lot of you are big fans of Starscream and Cobra Commander, thanks mostly to my voice (which I'm sure is more recognisable than Peter Cullen aka Optimus Prime).

"Well, in case some of you don't know, I couldn't audition for the part. I've been dead for 15 years. That's how Hank Azaria got my role in The Simpsons..."

Some random dude sticks his head in the panel and yells: "You disappoint me again, Starscream!"


Panel 4 - Latta stares forward blankly.

Panel 5 - Latta about to leave the panel to chase down the random dude.

"Excuse me while I go kick some fleshling butt. And now you know why I wasn't a part of the movie. And knowing is half the battle. COBRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"

Looking for a penciller/artist for comic strip features originally written for 28 Geeks Later!

Well, the joint blog that Theo and I had is pretty much in limbo right now, since Theo's got his exams around the corner, meaning he won't be contributing anything anytime soon.

Which is a shame because we've had so many ideas that we've posted there and I've crafted so many scripts that were going to be drawn by Theo. He hasn't had time to do that, being a full-time student, and I don't think he'll be updating or drawing anytime soon, seeing as how he's going back to Singapore once he's done and he'll hvae other priorities.

But I wanted to keep everything alive, so I'm in the process of transferring the scripts and Last Man Standing features I've crafted and posted on that blog over here.

In lieu of Theo not being able to do anything creatively for a while, but me wanting to proceed so that our scripts won't go to waste, I'd like to find another collaborative partner who can draw/pencil and create those written scripts to life in comic strip panel format.

Send me some samples of your artwork! At the moment there isn't any pay involved and the only real benefit is that you'll be able to hone your drawing skills and create some strips that will be jointly yours. Perhaps that would be a stepping stone or a platform for your work to be showcased and you might be able to get recognised and break into the comic industry!

Hope someone or anyone reading this will respond asap.

LMS: Elektra Vs Scarlett

Well, I wrote my own LMS feature today, featured on 28 Geeks Later. Won't re-blog it here since Theo and I are really trying to get people to go visit that site.

An awesome LMS from Wizard today, with superb art by master painter Greg Horn. Except the anguished look on Scarlett's face and the pose she's in looks...uh...how shall I put this? Well, if you take it out of context, it's kinda suggestive. Haha!

It's ninja vs martial arts expert! Private organisation (since Elektra's an assassin-for-hire) vs government agent! Brunette vs redhead! Who wins? Red blooded fanboys of course!

THE BATTLE... During a routine press conference, G.I. Joe commanding officer General Hawk finds himself the target of assassination by Elektra! As the killer bounds from the crowd hurling a sai at Hawk’s chest, she’s amazed to see it shot out of the air with a crossbow bolt fired by Scarlett. Leaping at Elektra, Scarlett unleashes a volley of shuriken throwing stars, but like an expert ballerina, Elektra dodges the missiles in midair—barely. Squaring off for hand-to-hand, Scarlett lands a kick to Elektra’s midsection, then follows up with an elbow strike to her head. Stunned, Elektra counters with a roundhouse kick that rocks Scarlett back on her heels. Pressing her advantage, Elektra thrusts her sai through Scarlett’s midsection, her Kevlar body armor the only thing saving her from death. Momentarily pinned on the sai, Scarlett desperately shoots a crossbow through Elektra’s foot, keeping her grounded. With the blunt end of her sai, Elektra smashes Scarlett’s face, turning it into a kaleidoscope of agony as blood and teeth go flying. Drawing her sidearm, Scarlett gets off a shot that takes a chunk out of Elektra’s shoulder, and pulling herself off the sai, she lands one last sweep kick to Elektra’s head that turns the assassin’s lights out. As Elektra’s led away by the security team, the battered Scarlett quips, “Sugar, I eat ninjas for breakfast. Tell Cobra to try a little harder next time.”

28 Geeks Later is up and running again! Sort of. Well, considering it's been on hiatus for the longest time...

Theo basically had the idea of writing some LMS features, with the first one featuring two playboy billionaries in Bruce Wayne and Tony Stark. And I did some editing and provided the stats of the two men.

Let's hope this venture goes much better than actually writing full scripts, since you'd only really need a splash page of the two heroes/villains/characters fighting in LMS features!
